Tuscany-Birdhouses on the Window was captured on a day trip to the Tuscany area from the city of Florence. This small walled medieval hill town is located in the province of Siena, Tuscany, in north central Italy. The building include examples of both Romanesque and Gothic architecture. The town known for saffron, the Golden Ham, and its white wine, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, produced from the ancient variety of Vernaccia grape which is grown on the sandstone hillsides of the area. I must admit, I was very disappointed to see the merchants that have taken over the area and made more of a tourist trap. I guess everyone has to make a living.
